I have long been a big fan of Harley Quinn. If you yourself are a fan, chances are you've seen my website: Harley Quinn's Haven, after twelve years still the number one resource for comprehensive information on the Clown Princess of Crime. 

Harley is a part of my soul and my heart - from the first instant I saw her, there was a sense of recognising the core of myself. I've always had a unique bond and sense of connection to this character which I've tried to honour by contributing to the fandom with my various interactive webprojects and fanfiction. 

Years ago when I was a young fan, I always had a fantasy of bringing my favourite character to life. However, I had no idea how to get started - no costume making skills, no real money behind me and no other resources.  Then, for a while, I "retired" from being active in the fandom and moved onto other things.

Since my return in 2008, part of my ambition as a fan has been to recreate as perfect and accurate a real-live depiction of Harley as I possibly could. My commitment has been to high-quality and detail, an exceptional protrayal of this character who means so much to me. 

In keeping with this passion, I want to take my cosplay a step beyond the standard and recreate several of Harley's most classic and beloved looks and costumes - to show glimpses into the many sides and facets of Harley's nature and being, to give her a sense of being truly incarnated in the flesh. My desire to do this is both to give myself the opportunity to briefly embody this character who resonates so strongly with me and to bring this beloved character to life for her other fans - to allow both them and myself to momentarily indulge in a fantasy world where Harley Quinn really exists.

Although I have been cosplaying for a very short time, the incredibly positive response I have received from both online fans and fellow convention goers has been a huge reward for all the effort and energy put in. I plan to continue cosplaying Harley for so long as it remains enjoyable, hopefully bringing a sense of pleasure to others as well as to myself.
